DivIDE offers a PhD position to study the role of tubulin modifications taking place during cell division

DivIDE is seeking for a highly motivated PhD student to work on the DivIDE project 1 at the laboratory of Microtubule Function and Cell Division under the supervison of Dr. Vernos. The aim of the project is to determine the role of tubulin isotypes and modifications in establishing different functional microtubule (MT) populations in the spindle.

Methodology:

We will use biochemistry, mass spectrometry and functional experiments in the Xenopus Egg extract system and tissue culture cells with a focus on the function and properties of the tubulin-modifying enzymes.

Requirements:

  • Have obtained a university degree within the past 4 years
  • Not to have been a resident in Spain for longer than 12 months in the last 3 years
  • Life Scientists, Chemists, Computer Scientists, Engineers, and Physicists
  • Hold an MSc degree before starting the position

Technical skills required:

  • Basic cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology methods
  • Computer skills (image analysis and statistics), basic programming skills

Languages:

  • Fluent level of English

Soft skills:

  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Capable of working in an international environment
