Project 5: Tubulin biochemical dynamics in human oocyte maturation

Evi started her journey in the field of biological sciences in a four-year programme in the Molecular Biology department of Democritus University of Thrace (Greece). After participating in various research projects, reproductive sciences intrigued her the most. She was awarded with a scholarship from the Bodossakis Foundation to pursue postgraduate studies, she then obtained her MSc degree in Reproductive Biolgy and Science and Ethics at the University of Kent (UK). Her research project in DivIDE will study the meiotic division of the human oocyte, a unique phenomenon observed in the process of gamete production under the supervison of Dr. Vassena at the EUGIN clinic. The aim of this research project is to provide insights in the role of tubulin during division, with potential applications in synthetic biology, when it comes to self-organising molecular complexes.
